THE FIRST LATFF

The LATFF 2024 is currently closed. The 2024 edition will open on June 1st 2023.

The LATFF is a Film Festival created by timelapse photographers Emeric Le Bars & Brian Youchak from the Timelapse Company and Oliver Kmia, where people can submit videos related to the art of timelapse and hyperlapse photography. Timelapse Photography has become a very unique, one-of-a-kind art form mixing photography with filmmaking. It deserves its own festival!

The LATFF is made by and for timelapse photographers. The main purpose is to award creative talents and photographers from around the world, watch some amazing videos and meet other passionate artists who are parts of the timelapse community in 2022 and 2023.

To submit a video to the LATFF, participants must create video between 2 and 5 minutes long including at least 50% timelapse or hyperlapse videos in one of the following categories:

  • Cityscapes
  • Nature and Landscapes
  • Hyperlapse/Dronelapse

MEET THE JURY

Emeric Le Bars

Emeric Le Bars is a French motion timelapse photographer living in the city of Los Angeles, California. Emeric has been a timelapse photographer for 9 years now, exploring American cityscapes and National Parks. He has sold his work to big companies such as Facebook, Fox Sports, Adobe, Netflix, Google, LG or Red Bull for example. For the past 5 years, he also teaches timelapse photography to students from all around the world with online classes and workshops.

Oliver Kmia

Oliver Kmia, based in Miami, is an award winning artist specialized in urban hyperlapse, aerial photography, and conceptual video production. He’s also a Senior Staff Writer for the online magazine Fstoppers.com.

Gunther Wegner

Gunther Wegner, based in northern Germany, is a well-known photographer, filmmaker, blogger, author and Youtuber.

He is the originator and developer of the market leading solution for time lapse photography, LRTimelapse and is a pioneer in the research of day-to-night and night-to-day shooting – the so called “Holy Grail” of time lapse photography.

Brian Youchak

Brian Youchak is a timelapse photographer based out of New Jersey. He has been shooting timelapses since 2015 when he found his passion living abroad in Ireland. He currently shoots with a Nikon D850, teaches workshops around the NJ/NYC area and has worked with brands such as Best Western and the Empire State Building. Brian loves to travel around the world shooting timelapses.

Katerine Giannikos

Katerine Giannikos is a South African Timelapse & Hyperlapse Photographer based in Boise, Idaho. Her passion for Timelapses began in New York City late 2019. 

When she moved from New York to Idaho, she fell in love with the raw natural beauty that Idaho has to offer and continued to capture the beautiful landscapes around her. Although she loves capturing the cityscapes, her interests lean more towards capturing mother nature’s beauty.

Matthew Vandeputte

Matthew Vandeputte aka Matjoez is a Belgian timelapse photographer and travel filmmaker living in London and Sydney. With close to a decade of experience he’s worked with global brands such as Samsung, Canon, Google, Microsoft, Ford and more. His work can be seen on Netflix, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and, of course, Youtube. Matthew shares his global adventures and knowledge on his social media channels, where he has gained over 180000 followers.

Justin Tierney

Justin Tierney is an award winning timelapse filmmaker from North Carolina. His recent project, “At The Conflux”, described by the BBC as “a futuristic roller coaster ride” combines timelapse images and original music into a film exploring the rhythm of Japanese cityscapes. His timelapse photography has been used by companies such as Apple, Westinghouse, Volkswagen, and CNN among others. Tierney holds graduate degrees from Yale, Tufts and a PhD from Duke University.

Jordan Mathis

Jordan Mathis is a freelance cinematographer and photographer based in Fort Worth, Texas. Jordan has traveled to 45 states and over 14 countries. He has worked on a variety of projects from National Ads, Environmental projects, Sports, and Television series.His work has been featured on the BBC, Freeform, Spike TV, FOX Sports, ESPN, MTV, AFI Film festival, HBO, NFL Films, Frontier Airlines, and the Big Screen on Times Square. Jordan focuses his love for the image into his most specialized craft; timelapse. A perfect marriage of photography and cinematography.
